SERTOMA. A curious word until three very important words come together in unison: SERvice TO MAnkind. Sertoma's primary service project is assisting the more than 50 million people with speech, hearing and language disorders. Sertoma also sponsors community projects to promote freedom and democracy, to assist youth and to benefit a variety of other local community needs, as identified by the individual clubs.
Founded in 1912, Sertoma is a volunteer international service organization for successful civic leaders dedicated to improving the community fabric. Sertoma exists for the high and noble purpose of SERvice TO MAnkind by communication of thoughts, ideas and concepts to accelerate human progress in health, education, freedom and democracy.
Headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, Sertoma is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit international organization with over 20,000 members in nearly 700 clubs across Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the United States. Every year, Sertoma clubs raise more than $20 million for local community service projects. Through these projects, as well as grants and scholarships, Sertoma clubs return those funds to their respective communities - and they have lots of fun doing it while building life-long friendships.
Las Vegas-Paradise Sertoma was established in April of 1959. We are pleased and fortunate to still enjoy the active services of the founding member Walter Pinjuv.
The Walter Pinjuv Golf Classic, now in its 13th year, is the club's major fundraising activity, along with a number of other activities.
Our other major projects include Music in Motion, Fantasy Baseball, Summer Camp and College Scholarships which are generously augmented by the Polis Family Charitable Foundation.
